Then we called Speed Wrench Garage, also in Sandwich, who received high praise from Scott at the NAPA Auto Parts store, and Jeff at Lee's Auto Parts. Candi spoke to the owner Dwayne, and they were willing to fit us in, though late on a Friday. They were busy, but they fit us in. A credit card? No problem. This was such a contrast to our experience with Dave Morman that it warranted my mentioning both businesses in contrast.
I personally go to them for my auto needs because there straight forward and don't charge me for extras.
I'm sure that Dave Morman is a good man, and that his shop is a good shop, but the curt way in which he brushed me off made me sad and disappointed. Therefore I said "Disliked it" and gave it 2 stars.
When I called to speak with Dave Morman, he was cordial enough over the phone, but was cold and blunt telling me that he would not accept a credit card over the phone from someone from out of state. I then mentioned again the names of three individuals that know him and rated his business so favorably. But, despite initially saying he could have fit in the inspection today, he simply wouldn't trust that someone who needed help from out of state could be trusted enough to take credit card payment. He even said that the time it would take was not the issue.
Dave Morman came recommended from my boss. Called, made an appointment, pretty smooth process. It's a local shop, simple, no frills or fuss. I needed my rotors and pads replaced and he was able to get it done not only in a timely manner but he had the best price within a 25 mile radius. I had the pleasure of meeting some of his regulars there who have used him for all their vehicles and all of them had nothing but great things to say. I will definitely be returning. Nice to find a hard working honest mechanic.
